5 indicators that you should seek mental health treatment
- You’re experiencing frequent muscle tension or physical aches that do not go away. This kind of pain can often be linked back to debilitating stress or anxiety that keeps on resurfacing in your life.
- Your appetite has changed. While sadness or worry can influence how we eat, if you’re persistently binge–eating or struggling to work up an appetite, it can be a serious indicator of a mental health disorder.
- You find yourself battling irrational feelings frequently. If you’re constantly nervous about failure, death, or loss, it may be that you’re experiencing anxiety. Depression also tends to cause irrational feelings, such as worthlessness or hopelessness. Often the people that are struggling with mental health are successful and loved, but their feelings don’t coincide with reality. If this sounds familiar to you, it may be a good idea to seek professional guidance.
- Are you finding it more and more difficult to be present in your relationships? Many people suffering from anxiety or depression feel that social outings and interactions are meaningless, or abnormally stressful. Maybe you find talking and connecting with others to be draining.
